I often get asked ‘What tests do you use to assess candidates?’ Well, that all depends upon the client and our assessment of their needs.
Some organizations want to test the general personality type for suitability to the role, and others want to know whether the individual will mesh well in the team or general organization. Sometimes, they’re just trying to get a deeper understanding of the candidates' thought processes and how they will be applied in the role.
As an executive search firm, we work with all of them. Our role is to provide an overview of the candidate's suitability, based on the general and specific requirements, and our clients decide whether they wish to dig deeper into certain areas, based on their assessment of whether it is necessary. We assist in the process, but we prefer to keep an objective stance, judging the need based on the specific situation and issues.
