Looking to hire Internationally?
Certain industry sectors are having difficulty finding local candidates in highly competitive markets. More and more companies are considering seeking candidates from outside of Canada, but aren’t sure where to begin.
Before you start placing ads in Europe, China or the Middle East, you should do a little homework. First, you need to find out what countries are leaders in the industry or industries you are working in, and whether they have already been “picked over” for the best candidates. Then, you have to identify and contact those candidates to find out if they are interested in moving, interview them, negotiate compensation and relocation, etc.
If you don’t want to have to spend months researching the culture, customs and candidate issues, or dealing with the unlimited demands of international recruiting, you should consider hiring a search firm to take care of the “legwork”, leaving you to focus on finding the individual who best fits your organization’s culture and needs.
